The archive, which includes thousands of hours of video, teaches basic journalistic skills as well as ethics and values.

The Guardian has more on the story here. I was hoping to check some of the archive out, to brush up on my reporting skills, but unfortunately, the database isn’t free to those outside of the UK. It did make me wonder about the value of online video courses in journalism, specifically new media journalism.

It’d be great if these BBC videocourses could be married with others from a variety of other journalistic institutions to create an expansive databases of lecture for journalists. Anyone know if anything like this already exists?
