To all you bored graph designers who are enraged about the biggest ecological disaster in American history, Greenpeace has a fun way for you to creatively vent your anger: rebrand BP.  They’re holding a contest to look for a more appropriate logo for the brand. Now, I don’t usually get down with Adbusters-ish concepts like this, but this oil spill is FUCKING BULLSHIT and so I thought this was worth sharing. If you’re interested in participating, you can hit up this link.

I think BPs present logo suits their brand fine. It is a perfect example of Corporate double-speak. Say the exact opposite of what you actually do. It has been that way since it came on the scene, marking the change from British Petroleum to “Beyond Petroleum.” We all know how far beyond petroleum BP has moved since that date. Maybe now we will start to be suspicious of all corporate speech, which will be healthy for us, because they are about to enter the political conversation in an unprecedented way.
