…Thereby squashing students chances of having jobs in the future. Though they do get experience.

Hot on the tail of the Times ceding control of it’s Brooklyn Local blog CUNY Graduate J-School students, the LA times has announced that it’s renowned Homicide Blog will now be staffed by Annenberg students. On the one hand, it’s a bad sign that the LA Times can’t afford to leverage a staff reporter for this blog anymore. On the other, this is a serious reporting gig. You can see a piece I produced about the Homicide Blog for Current TV embedded below. I have to assume the students will get pretty amazing experience writing for this blog. I just don’t know if they’ll have outlets for the skills after they’ve graduated. What do you think?
